DIST 14 FUNDRAISER

IL District 14 Trivia Night
at the Sparta VFW
22 February 2025
Doors open at 6pm; Trivia starts at 7pm

VFW District 14 Trivia Fundraiser

Q:  When is it?

A:  22 Feb.  Doors open at 6 and trivia starts at 7.

Q:  Where is it going to be?  Why is it there?

A:  It will be held at Sparta VFW Post 2698 because it is relatively central to the District and has enough indoor space and parking to comfortably host this year’s event.

Q:  Do I have to be a VFW member or Auxiliary to participate?

A:  Absolutely NOT!  Everyone over the age of 21 is invited!

Q:  How are we going to make money?

A:  Teams will pay $120 to sign up, we’ll have a silent auction, run at least one 50/50, and we’ll be selling mulligans (a "free pass” for questions).  Additionally, we’ll be selling snacks/food (we’re still in the early planning stages on this).

Q:  What is my Post responsible for?

A:  We need every Post to ADVERTISE!  In addition to the trivia, we are going to host a silent auction, so we would ask each Post to provide at least 2 items for the auction—as always, WORK YOUR COMMUNITY.  Additionally, we need each Post to sign up at least 1 team (preferably 2).  We’ll have enough space for 30 teams, so get ‘em signed up before we’re full!

Q:  Other than that, how can I help?

A:  We’ll need:

- 3 people to be graders/scorekeepers

- 2 people to conduct (monitor) the silent auction

- 1-2 people to register folks when they arrive

- 2 people to sell 50-50 tickets

- If folks could hang out afterwards and help with clean-up, it would be greatly appreciated.

Q:  Are there prizes?

A:  There will be prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places (TBD).  Additionally, we’ll do "last balloon standing” where there will be a bonus question each round.  If a team gets it wrong, the helium balloon on their table will be popped and the team with the last balloon will win a prize (TBD).

Q:  Can I bring my own food/drinks?

A:  Participants can bring their own food (NO COOLERS), but they must purchase drinks from the VFW.  There are plenty of non-alcoholic options available and we do not want to risk losing a liquor license by bringing in outside beverages.

Q:  How do teams sign up?

A:  In order to streamline everything, we ask that teams sign up online using our Google Form.  There is a QR code on the flyer and a link on the District 14 website.

Q:  How do teams pay their entry donation?

A:  Participants can use our Venmo account (link is on the Google Form, as well as the District 14 website) or can drop off a check at any District 14 VFW.  If a check is dropped off at your post, please be sure to get that to our Quartermaster, Cathy Stubbs, NLT than the date of the event.  A courtesy email to Jill (commander@mascoutahvfw.org) is also appreciated.
